Birthday Gifts...

I got a birthday gift of a 1.4 pound gain today, so now I am at 185 pds 5 pounds from touchdown. It was my birthday Friday and so I ate more than usual. I did try and overcome it by running & walking but it was not enough. In the past I have had weeks where I ate far more and still lost, and this was partly because of the exercise that I did.

For example one week we went white water rafting and canoeing, and another week I went bike riding. Perhaps I need to get myself a bike so when confronted with a week where I have eaten allot I will still lose if I get in a good bike workout.

Snacks….

So what do you snack on? Do you snack on fatty foods that will not satisfy such as cheetos, candy bars, doritos, etc? Or do you choose satisfying foods to snack on? Have you ever thought of something high in protein and Fiber to snack on? I choose snacks that satisfy, so I am not hungry a hour later. Some of my snacks are as follows.

Cheese Sticks
FiberOne Bars
Yogurt
AppleSauce

Choose what works for you, but choose snacks that satisfy and fulfill you and not something that craves your taste, but just makes you hungry a hour or s later.

Trigger foods. Resist them or use them as rewards?

Yesterday I was in the grocery store and saw some Ben & Jerry Ice Creams on sale (2 for the price of one).  To many Ben & Jerry ice cream is very tasty, and a trigger food that will gain them weight.  A flavor I saw has 24G of fat!!!! This is heavy in fat compared to the most rich of frozen Yogurt which has 5G of fat. Even the frozen yogurt version of that Ben & Jerry ice cream (with 24G of FAT) has only 3-5G of FAT. So if you are someone that has a hard time resisting certain foods, then your best bet is to keep them out of the house! Who knows if you stocked up on trigger foods you may end up eating them all without realizing it, which would unfortunately result in a weight gain. So be smart and avoid trigger foods if you cannot resist them. If you can resist them, and are disciplined enough, then use them as treats and or rewards for positive behavior. For example you could reward yourself for losing weight, for taking a long walk/run, etc.. The possibilities are endless on how to reward yourself.

Maintaining proper control of your diet

Some say that I am too obsessed with losing weight. I know how to maintain control of my diet as I did yesterday at a pool party with my churches singles group ministry. I used some of my weeklies but could only eat eat half of my cheeseburger, probably due to my new conditioning in eating only fish & boca burgers. So when tempted to eat by social pressures its important to be able to socialize, but also to maintain proper control over what you eat, and to eat food in appropriate servings sizes as I believe I did yesterday. But if all else fails, then good exercise throughout the week would be a way to burn off the calories.

I maintained this week!

I was able to maintain my weight at 186, after a scare throughout the week of 188-189 by my scale. So I went to Moe's which has some very tasty food. Probably the best of the South Carolina Mexican restaurants and the closest to real California mexican food. No one beats California here.

US National White Water Center, Charlotte, NC

Yesterday me and some friends from my churches Singles group traveled to the Us National WhiteWater Center and did rafting, kayaking, and mountain biking. I got a great workout! Eat quite a bit for lunch and dinner so not sure how that will affect me with my weigh in, but oh well life is too short to be obsessed about maintaining a perfect loss everyweek. I usually lose, but not always. I recommend this place to anyone looking to have fun and get some exercise.

Chocolate Peanut Butter

I learned of this peanut butter and went to Walmart and purchased myself some. Its low on fat for Peanut Butter, high on Protein, has a great taste to it and is satisfying.  I tried it with Jelly for lunch and was marveled at the taste, and tonight plan to try it as a topping with my vanilla frozen yogurt. If you get tired of the normal Peanut butter taste then I suggest you stop by your local grocery store and buy yourself some chocolate Peanut Butter, for you will enjoy not only the taste, but the satisfying effect. Some foods have a great taste but are not satisfying. Its good to get the best of both if at all possible, and this peanut butter is both.

Lost 2.2 pounds!

Despite the wonderful mexican dinner I had last night I still was able to lose 2.2 pounds. I did a bit of walking/running during the week and the day I had the mexican dinner walked 4 miles. I also walked for 2.5 miles prior to the weight watchers meeting so this definitely helped. I track everything that I eat and had 27 weeklies left so overall I had a very good week for weight loss.

Mexican Food

This meal tasted really good. I did walk 4 miles today so Lord willing will still lose at the scale.

Dangerous Chocolate Milk

Today I decided to try a bottle of Chocolate A Grade Milk which I purchased at Publix. What a mistake! Although the milk tasted the same as Simply Smart Fat Free Chocolate Milk, but with 8 times more fat! Yes the fat content is 8G and the Carbs 27G.

I did look at the Nutrition facts prior to the purchase, I just did not have my Weight Watchers calculator and had no idea what the total point value would be which was 12 points for the entire bottle! It would have been healthier to have drank a diet soda! Tomorrow I may have to work it off by running/walking. If it does not rain I plan to walk 3-6 miles.

Its Cereal time!

Yesterday I had waffles with light syrup and today I think I will have some cereal with Simply Smart Chocolate Milk. The type of Cereal will be Peanut Butter Crunch. I do not normally eat this type of cereal, but on occasion I think its okay. Besides its been some 2 years since I have eaten this cereal and I hunger for it. Normally I eat healthier cereals like Special K & FiberOne.

The Good Health Guidlines

I recommend everyone and anyone wanting to lose weight and maintain a healthy body to follow the guidelines below. I have been doing so for almost a year and have not only lost a great amount of weight, but had a perfect physical and blood test the last time at the doctor. Follow the guidelines below does not mean you will never get cancer or a serious disease, but it does mean you are less likely.

Some Good Health Guidelines
1. Eat at least five servings of vegetables and fruits each day.
2. Choose whole-grain foods.
3. Include two servings of milk products.
4. Have 2 teaspoons of healthy oils (olive oil, canola, sunflower, safflower or flaxseed) each day.
5.Get your protein (lean meats, skinless poultry, fish, beans, soy products, and lentils).
6. Limit sugar and alcohol.
7. Drink at least 6 8-ounce glasses of liquid a day.
8. Take a multiple vitamin supplement each day (One A day, Vita Fusion, Natures Bounty, etc.).
9. Exercise at least a half hour each day.

Chocolate Milk

What's your favorite? Simply Smart or Horizon Organic? I have sampled both and without a doubt Simply Smart tastes much better than Horizon Organic. Simply Smart is fat free with 12G of protein, but it tastes just like 2% chocolate milk! For Weight Watcher users 1 SS of Hood Simply Smart is 4 points. Regular 2% chocolate milk is 6 Point a cup. Go buy your Hood Simply Smart today!

Health tip

Choose the right multivitamin. Choose one with plenty of Zinc, and other essential vitamins. Centrum is probably the best. If you are going to choose a Gummy multivitamin, make sure the label says "multi-vitanim", and not just "vitamin" and I think One A Day would be the best among the 4 or so adult branded products I am aware of.

Made it to 45 pounds!

I made it to 45 pounds today. However after the meeting I went to WaffleHouse. Its great to have fun on occasion and its been nearly 2 years since I last visited a WaffleHouse. After my meal I did not feel the best, and thought that maybe I could have gotten the same fill for far less points at home. I do not indulge in my food cravings often, but on occasion it can bite me in the butt.

Hope to lose weight today

Had my FiberOne cereal (this one fills me up) especially with 13G of Fiber. But I possibly made one bad move and that was buying regular chocolate milk over Organic Chocolate milk. I have not tasted regular chocolate milk in a while and so wanted to feel the taste again. Drunk a cp this morning and it felt very rich... Hope it does not impact my weight loss this afternoon. Organic Chocolate Milk is loaded with DHA Omega 3 and is healthier for me. This chocolate milk is good for an occasional taste, but probably the next worst thing for you, other than chocolate drink, which has no milk content at all!

Chocolate Delight is loaded with fat and cannot be healthy for anyone. Much richer than organic chocolate milk no doubt.

Lost 2.2 pounds!

I amaze myself at my weight loss success. I was actually expecting to gain this week, but ended up losing 2.2 pounds! This after I went to Zaxbies and ate nothing but fatty foods friday night. The Zaxbies meal that I had was worth 53 Weight Watcher points! The secret this week was the exercise that I did in addition to my tracking and it helped me lose weight yet again.

Fruits

Fruits are a filling food, and are good for you. Fresh fruits like apples, oranges, bananas, are what I recommend, over canned foods, which typically have sugar. Although Apple Sauce can be tempting at times, the brand I eat uses 2 Weight Watcher points. Fruits are a part of healthy daily living guidelines. Perhaps if more people would eat healthy, we may not have as many medical conditions and health problems.

Resisting Temptation

They are having a party at wk loaded with fatty foods. I did not contribute nor will I attend. A good weight loss is far more important than social pressures. One major reason how I got fat in the first place was by compromising. I will not do this.

FiberOne Bars

FiberOne bars are a filling food as they fill you up, taste good, and are loaded with Fiber. They are low on Weight Watchers pts, and are great snacks. I eat one everyday at work for my morning snack, and I am satisfied till lunchtime. FiberOne bars can be found here

I lost 2 pounds!

Yesterday I went to Weight Watchers to get weighed and I lost 2 pounds! The previous week I had earned some 27 activity points due to walking, and had not eaten as much. After the meeting I had a little snack (Crab Cakes filled with Omega 3) and took a hour walk. Exercising helps relieve stress and gets my mind off stress and problems, and onto other things. For dinner last night I had corn, a beef ribeye steak, and a potato. For dessert I had frozen yogurt. I will comment more on frozen yogurt and its weight loss advantages over ice cream in a future blog.
